Brian Model Cars and Fred Cady Decal

[Back to topic list] [Back to 1963 1/2 #823 Lightweight Galaxie Topic]

NHRA Record holder, Dick Brannan, known as the "Lively One".

In 63, the Ford camp was really trying to pick up the pace on the drag strip. With the addition of a new 427 the all newly designed Galaxie Hard top lead the charge. Even though it was outfitted with Aluminum bumpers, fiberglass fenders and other weight saving items, it was still a bit heavy to compete in the AFX class it was placed in. It wasn't until months later that the minimum quota of 100 cars was reached, and Fords' highly modified "factory" drag car could race "legally" as a stocker in the NHRA sanctioned S/S class.
This car was raced by Dick Brannan quite succesfully out of Romy Hammes Ford, South Bend Indiana.

This is a pic of a model built by Brian of www.briansmodelcars. Brian used a Fred Cady decal to complete this great model.

The areas on this decal that appear "blank" actually have white logos, I have done the best I could but, "white" does not show well in a scanned picture.
