Rowing Club - 1971

[Back to topic list] [Back to Notre Dame - Jerry & Dorene Topic]

Documented letters to and from Jim Frick, (ND fund raiser) & Jerry Hammes, (kicked out).
Notre Dame uncovered. That plaque is still on the wall inside the boathouse !!!! as of yesterday.

The Notre Dame Rowing Club was established in 1965. Practices are held throughout the school year at the Howard Park boathouse on the scenic Saint Joseph River in South Bend, Indiana. During the Winter season we continue our physical training in the Loftus indoor facility on the main campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The past 4 years (2000~2004) have brought an enormous growth to the program. We will continue to build on our recent successes with ever growing varsity, lightweight, and novice programs. A special "thank you" to you parents, alumni and relatives of past and present athletes. Your continued support of our program is what keeps us going and you inspire us all with your dedication. We could not have come this far without you.

Row Irish!

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends:
There exist a group of young men and women who share your passion, desire, and love for the sport of rowing at Notre Dame. They practice and compete with the same intensity you once did in the years past. As you all are aware, rowers not only participate in the sport, they give themselves whole-heartedly to the rowing team.
With the pains of winter training behind us, our team is focused on one goal: speed. We work every day with the hope of making our boats faster each race. We are fortunate to be able to compete against some of the top crews in the nation and we strive to make them fear our speed. We practice knowing that even the slightest improvement can be the difference between first place and being the first loser.
We strive to stay focused on speed, but being a member of the Notre Dame Rowing Club means more than just rowing. It means staying after a race to tune or repair a shell. It means practicing six days a week and spending your one day off participating in fundraisers. It means taking on leadership roles, managing the team's budget, and working with the school administration. We practice before dawn and after dark, but so does our competition. Rowing at Notre Dame requires more than just athletes - it requires leaders.
Your financial contribution can help lighten the burden carried by the team. Our team is strong, but needs your help to grow stronger. Your support can help us keep the Notre Dame Crew Club growing. Help us carry on the legacy that are still very much a part of. Like every tenth of a second we strive to take off our 500 meter split, every dollar you give makes a difference. If you are able to support the needs of Men's Crew, donate to the team that you are proud to be part of, and help us continue what we love to do: row.

Thank you for your support,

Jordan Frankel
