While I was residing in Farley Hall I overheard some conversations about the problem of obtaining a big name band. Seems "they" waited to long to book and also did not provide adequate funds. When I heard that I offered to contact my friends in the Downbeats, a St. Patrick's High School (now renamed Bishop McNamera High School) student's band to see if they were available. And they were, and they did play the Frosh Spring Dance. Because those BMOC had to CYA they called it a Chicago Band and conveniently forget to include the bands name. The result at the end of the evening everyone enjoyed their professional skills in the Big Band Era. Memory tells me that Joel Brault, drums, John Azarelli, trumpet, Ron LaMontagne, trombone.
